Together, we burn. Together, we prepare.
The Shake Ridge Prescribed Burn Association (PBA) is a community-led group bringing good fire back to the land in Amador County. Built on a barn-raising model, we unite neighbors, landowners, and trained practitioners to safely plan and implement prescribed burns.
Our goal is to reduce wildfire risk, restore healthy landscapes, and build local capacity through hands-on training and real-world experience. Working alongside California Certified Burn Bosses, we ensure burns are conducted safely, legally, and to high standards.
We believe the best solutions are local and community-driven.

Guidance through air quality permits, notifications, and state requirements to ensure burns are legal and defensible.
On-Site Technical Oversight
Support from experienced practitioners and California Certified Burn Bosses (CARX) to lead or advise during operations.
Fuels & Site Preparation Planning
Recommendations for control lines, fuel treatments, staging areas, and equipment needs to set burns up for success.
